A NATIONWIDE STRIKE ANNOUNCED IN GEORGIA. MORE DECISIVE ACTIONS ARE NEEDED TO OVERTHROW IVANISHVILI'S BLOODY REGIME!
Organizers are calling for a three-hour shutdown of all enterprises across the country on January 15 to force the pro-Russian government to consider the will of the Georgian people and call for new parliamentary elections.
The protest action is scheduled for January 15 at 3:00 PM. Strike organizers are urging employers and employees nationwide to temporarily suspend their activities for three hours. This is intended to demonstrate how the lack of political change leads to economic stagnation and a decline in living standards.
"Through this strike, we will show what isolation holds for us: economic stagnation, closed businesses, poverty, and unemployment..." the statement reads.
The main demands of the protesters are repeated parliamentary elections and the release of those detained during protests following the parliamentary elections in late October.
To recall, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia in October 2024. According to Georgia's Central Election Commission, the pro-Russian party Georgian Dream, which has ruled the country for over a decade, claimed victory. The opposition and Georgia's president refused to recognize the election results. Subsequently, the pro-Russian government announced the suspension of the country's integration into the EU. This sparked a wave of protests, with citizens demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of detained protesters.
