GERMANY, FRANCE, AND POLAND BAN ENTRY FOR GEORGIAN OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN VIOLENCE AGAINST PEACEFUL PROTESTERS
Leading countries worldwide are finally responding to the lawlessness in Georgia, where authorities regularly use water cannons to disperse peaceful protests. Sanctions are being imposed against the bloody dictator Ivanishvili, including a travel ban to European countries. Even more decisive actions are needed to oust Russian puppets and bring them before the International Tribunal.
The foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Poland have called for respect for human rights in Georgia. In response to Tbilisi's actions, the EU visa-free regime for several Georgian officials will be suspended, according to a declaration by the so-called "Weimar Triangle."
"We unequivocally condemn the violence of recent weeks against peaceful demonstrators, the media, and opposition leaders," the document emphasized.
«Ми однозначно засуджуємо насильство останніх тижнів щодо мирних демонстрантів, ЗМІ та лідерів опозиції», – наголошувалося в документі.
As a response, the visa-free regime with EU countries will be suspended for a number of Georgian officials and government representatives. The authors of the declaration also urged the Georgian authorities to "respect human rights and protect fundamental freedoms, including freedom of assembly and press freedom." The foreign ministers of the three countries placed responsibility for the "political course of repression" and "turn away from democracy" on the ruling Georgian Dream party. Cooperation between Europe and the Georgian government has already been scaled back, and further measures are being considered at both European and national levels.
The ministers expressed "great concern" over the political crisis in Georgia following the October 26 parliamentary elections. The "Weimar Triangle" has repeatedly called on Tbilisi to "return to European integration, respect European norms and values, and implement reforms."
Meanwhile, Germany has imposed a travel ban on nine individuals allegedly responsible for violence against protesters and opposition representatives in Georgia.
