THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE IS HEADING TO TBILISI FOR NEGOTIATIONS. BESIDES EXPRESSING CONCERN AND CALLING FOR DIALOGUE, REAL ACTION IS NEEDED TO FREE GEORGIA FROM THE BLOODY DICTATOR IVANISHVILI!
Today, Alain Berset, the President of the Council of Europe, arrives in Georgia. He aims to negotiate with representatives of the Georgian Dream party to ensure that security forces refrain from using force against peaceful protesters. The European Union still fails to grasp that the country is ruled by the bloody dictator Ivanishvili. His methods include violently dispersing protests and detaining opposition members. The dictator will not stop until he faces the bench of an international tribunal.
According to Berset, his visit is intended to assess whether the conditions for further cooperation between his organization and the Georgian government remain intact following the police's use of force against peaceful protesters. Over the past three weeks, security forces have been suppressing opposition demonstrations, detaining and injuring dozens of people who accuse the government of distancing Georgia from the EU and aligning it closer to Russia.
"As a member state of the Council of Europe since 1999, Georgia is obligated to uphold its fundamental commitments: democracy, human rights protection, and the rule of law. The Council of Europe urges all parties to avoid any escalation of tensions and calls on the authorities to refrain from the disproportionate use of force and to respect fundamental freedoms, including freedom of speech and assembly," emphasized the President of the Council of Europe.
It should be noted that protesters are calling for new elections following allegations of fraud during the October parliamentary elections, the results of which the opposition refused to recognize. Opponents of the government claim that Georgian Dream falsified the election results to retain power.
Recently, the Georgian parliament passed, in the final third reading, a law imposing penalties on protesters. Under this law, wearing masks, using fireworks, and lasers during demonstrations will result in fines.
