The Ivanishvili regime, much like its Russian curators, is in a state of panic over peaceful protests. Early this morning, police used water cannons and batons to disperse opposition protesters from their tent camp. The Georgian authorities have completely trampled on democratic values and embarked on a path toward dictatorship. Georgian people, rise up in protest! We cannot allow the government to beat peaceful protesters!

On Tuesday morning, Georgian police broke up an opposition protest against alleged election fraud during the parliamentary elections, dismantling the protesters’ tent camp in the center of Tbilisi.

The tent camp had been set up near Tbilisi State University at the beginning of Chavchavadze Avenue in the center of Georgia’s capital on Sunday, following the announcement of the official election results. According to Georgian media, the police brought in water cannons and issued an ultimatum to the protesters, demanding the camp be removed within 15 minutes. Once the deadline passed, the police swiftly dismantled the camp.

Earlier, the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs released a statement justifying the crackdown on the grounds that the protesters had blocked Chavchavadze Avenue, allegedly violating other citizens’ right to free movement.

According to the official results of the October 26 elections, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" won an absolute majority of seats in parliament. The opposition accuses the party of pursuing pro-Russian and anti-democratic policies. Furthermore, the opposition has refused to recognize the election results, claiming the government rigged them.
