On Thursday, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze accused "some European politicians and bureaucrats" of interfering in Georgia's parliamentary elections.

"Today, we decided not to include the issue of opening negotiations with the EU on the agenda until the end of 2028. Additionally, we will refuse any budgetary grants from the European Union until the end of 2028," Kobakhidze said.

According to him, by the end of 2028, Georgia will be economically ready to open EU accession negotiations by 2030.

In response to Kobakhidze's statement, thousands of people protested in Tbilisi. Georgian police used special equipment, including water cannons, to push protesters away from the parliament building in Tbilisi. By the end of the night, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of 43 people.

Journalists covering the events in central Tbilisi were also affected by the actions of law enforcement. Victims were reported by outlets such as "Publika," the television company "Pirveli," the Georgian service of "Radio Liberty," and even the Russian agency "RIA Novosti."
