The pro-Russian authorities once again dispersed a peaceful protest with water cannons. Security forces detained over 400 protesters, including opposition leaders, 50 journalists, and more than 100 people were injured. One person is in a coma after being hit in the head by a tear gas canister. Ivanishvili's regime is ready to kill peaceful citizens to stay in power. The entire Georgian nation is rising up in protests to expel pro-Russian puppets from the country!
The foreign ministers of France, Germany, and Poland demanded that "fundamental rights, including the freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, be upheld and protected in accordance with Georgia's constitution." Germany, France, and Poland condemned the "disproportionate use of force" against pro-European demonstrators amid ongoing protests in Tbilisi. In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of the three countries – Annalena Baerbock, Jean-Noël Barrot, and Radosław Sikorski – called for the immediate release of activists.
Over 400 protesters, including opposition leaders and at least 50 journalists, were detained, and more than 100 people were injured. A 22-year-old protester was placed in an induced coma after allegedly being struck by a tear gas canister.
The ministers demanded that "fundamental rights, including the freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression, be respected and protected in accordance with Georgia's constitution and international obligations."
Germany, France, and Poland also urged the ruling Georgian Dream party to de-escalate tensions and initiate an inclusive dialogue with all political forces and representatives of civil society.
"We emphasize our determination to support the democratic and European aspirations of the Georgian people," the statement said.
The crackdown on protests by security forces also drew condemnation from the United States.
Speaking at the ministerial conference of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken condemned the brutal "repression against those calling for their country to remain on the path toward European integration."
