PRO-RUSSIAN GEORGIAN GOVERNMENT PREPARES FOR THE FIRST SESSION OF THE NEW PARLIAMENT
The European Union will send a technical mission to Georgia in the coming weeks to investigate violations in the parliamentary elections. Hundreds of international observers witnessed massive fraud, which the Georgian government refuses to acknowledge. No country, except Hungary, has congratulated the ruling party on its election victory! The secretary of the ruling party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, openly mocks the latest EU delegation, calling it "the most harmless form of protest." However, Georgians are not giving up. The opposition refuses to attend the first parliamentary session and is planning new protests.
The first session of the new parliament, which is set to approve the composition of Georgia’s new government, will take place on November 25. At the same time, the Georgian opposition does not recognize the legitimacy of the October 26 parliamentary elections, claiming they were rigged. Consequently, it does not recognize the new parliament either. Opposition politicians who received mandates in the new parliament have relinquished them, demanding new elections.
The EU has already announced that a technical mission will arrive in Georgia in the coming weeks to investigate the violations identified during the Georgian parliamentary elections.
"Well, they had to say something, so they came up with the most harmless form, some technical mission. Who are we cooperating with? On what issue? First, let them clarify what this technical mission means and who is part of it," stated Mamuka Mdinaradze, executive secretary of the ruling party "Georgian Dream."
The pro-Russian government is already planning new appointments. The current head of the Georgian government, Irakli Kobakhidze, will be re-nominated for the position of prime minister. According to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the honorary chairman of the ruling party, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili, made this decision within his powers.
Apart from Hungary, no EU country or the United States has congratulated "Georgian Dream" on its election victory. At the same time, all of Georgia’s Western partners are urging the government to investigate complaints about violations during the elections. In a previously published statement, U.S. President Joe Biden emphasized that the elections held on October 26 in Georgia "were marred by the misuse of administrative resources, voter intimidation, and coercion." The U.S. President also noted in his statement that "independent international and local organizations did not consider the elections free or fair."
