OPPOSITION DEMANDS REPEAT ELECTIONS
The Georgian opposition demands repeat parliamentary elections, which should be conducted by an international administration.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to "Echo of the Caucasus."
One of the leaders of the "Unity - National Movement" party, Giorgi Vashadze, speaking at a rally, stated that the Georgian opposition demands repeat elections, which should be conducted by an international administration.
He also noted that the opposition refuses to work in the new parliament and does not intend to hold any negotiations with "Georgian Dream."
"Any negotiations and agreements should pertain to the repeat conduct of elections," Vashadze emphasized.
President Salome Zourabichvili also spoke at the rally.
"They stole your vote and tried to steal your future. But no one has the right to do this, and you will not allow it," she said.
Elections and Protests in Georgia On October 26, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia, where the pro-Russian ruling party "Georgian Dream" competed against pro-European opposition political forces.
During the vote counting, Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili expressed confidence in the opposition's victory. However, according to the country's Central Election Commission, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" received more than 54% of the votes, followed by opposition parties.
Moreover, international observers reported significant violations during the elections in Georgia.
All four opposition parties announced that they would boycott the newly elected parliament. Some opposition members have announced plans for protests.
This evening, mass protests began in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, due to the victory of the controversial pro-Russian party "Georgian Dream" in the elections.
